Hello, welcome to my crazy sticky world!
My name is Bobbie; I am the creator and owner of Sticky Monkey Designs. I am a southern girl at heart, born and raised in Houston, Texas. I currently live in northwest Houston with my hubby, my little man, and our two crazy mutts. I am a mom, a wife, a daughter, a small business owner, and I also work full time from home for a media and marketing company. I know, I must be nuts!
My husband Kevin and I married seven years ago on a beautiful beach in Mexico. Four years later, our little man Jacob graced us with his presence. Jacob is the love of my life, and has been my inspiration for Sticky Monkey.
People always ask me, How did you choose the name Sticky Monkey? Well, when Jacob was little he was a chunky monkey, and he still is! I wanted a fun and funky name that would stand out, so in October 2007, Sticky Monkey Designs was born.
Another question I get all the time is, How did you come up with the idea? It all started when Jacob went to Mothers day out. As most moms know, everything has to be labeled with your childs name. I tried the sharpie thing, and you know how that turned out. I looked all over the internet for something unique, and all I came up with was boring circles, squares and rectangles. I tried a few, but most of them faded or came off after two or three washes!
I have always been creative, and I have always wanted to be different. I knew there had to be a way to make a die-cut waterproof sticker, thus my search began. After nine months of testing materials and techniques, I came up with the perfect product, Sticky Monkeyz! (A big thank you to all my wonderful friends who I used as test subjects, you know who you are)
I launched the first website in December 2007, and business was booming. I had such a great response to my products! All of my customers came from word of mouth. It meant so much to me that people were as excited about my products as I was!
I quickly discovered I could use the stickers on so many other things, so I started making the metal buckets. I was amazed when all the orders started pouring in. Eventually, people started asking me to make bigger stickers for walls. I thought, why the heck not? So in August 2008 I created Wall Monkeyz. I LOVE creating funky and fun art for any room in a home, but my favorite is designing the perfect kids' room.
I would like to thank my wonderful family and friends for supporting me in my new venture. Thanks so much for letting me be me! A BIG thank you to my hubby and my little monkey! I know I have had my moments the past few months!
